CALL FOR APPLICATIONS

Dear Colleagues, Students and Professors,

We kindly invite your submissions for theatre performances, short films, and workshops for the program of the upcoming 32^nd International Meeting of the Academies and Faculties for Dramatic Arts SKOMRAHI scheduled for November 1-5, 2024 at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts and across different locations in Skopje.

SKOMRAHI was initiated in 1988 to meet the needs of Yugoslavian drama art students for closer communication and exchange of experiences. In the years that followed, the meetings grew into European and worldwide student gatherings, keeping with the idea of promoting and celebrating diverse cultures through the practical work and education programs of the various academies and faculties of dramatic arts.

This year, the event is conceptualized within the following program framework:

SKOMRAHI 2024: DIONYSIA NOW

In our world rife with estrangement and greed, hierarchy and militarism, exploitation and extraction, xenophobia and racism, humanity's downfall is live-streamed on our phones.

What can we do about this as artists? How can our art be relevant and reflective? Can it even survive in this world? Can we?

This year, SKOMRAHI invites young theatre and film makers to reclaim a different way to be.

Facing the myriad crises of today, let us look for solutions all the way back to the roots. There, in the deep, lush woods where the soil is still moist and fertile, we find Dionysus – we find forces of nature, ambiguities, altered consciousness, transformation, belonging, collectivity...

With a mischievous grin on his face, Dionysus invites us to come together and embrace our differences, our peculiarities, and our paradoxes.
Dionysus encourages us to give in to craziness and misbehaving, to go outside our bodies, of ourselves, to stay open and vulnerable, to reach ecstasy and epiphany.

Come to DIONYSIA NOW to celebrate genuine connectedness, togetherness, mindfulness and solidarity.

Let us rediscover our art as the ultimate tool for making more just worlds.

Let us dance and shout our way through festive communion into collective liberation.
